Heinrich Walther studierte Klavier und Kirchenmusik an den Hochschulen für Musik in Freiburg, Toulouse und Dallas; Orgel bei Zsigmond Szathmáry, Xavier Darasse, Robert Anderson und Larry Palmer, Klavier bei Jürgen Klodt und Andreas Immer. Er konzertiert weltweit als Organist und an historischen Tasteninstrumenten. Seine Diskografie ist sehr umfangreich und vielseitig. Sie schließt Aufnahmen eigener Orgeltranskriptionen großer Orchesterwerke von César Franck, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Max Reger und José María Usandizaga ein. Heinrich Walther lehrt an der Hochschule für Musik Freiburg und als Professor an der Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Heidelberg; seit Mitte der 1970er-Jahre ist er zudem im kirchlichen Dienst tätig.
Heinrich Walther attended the music colleges of Freiburg, Toulouse and Dallas, studying the organ with Zsigmond Szathmary, Xavier Darasse, Robert Anderson and Larry Palmer.
He performs worldwide as an organist and on early keyboard instruments. His extensive CD recordings showcase works from wide-ranging periods, including first recorded performances of contemporary compositions alongside his own transcriptions of orchestral works by composers such as F.Mendelssohn Bartholdy, C.Franck, M.Reger and J.M.Usandizaga.
Heinrich Walther teaches at the University of Music at Freiburg and at the college of church music at Heidelberg, and he also participates in courses as a guest tutor. He has been a church organist in Germany and France since 1976.
Heinrich Walther (né en 1959) a étudié le piano et la musique sacrée (Kirchenmusik) à la Staatliche Hochschule für Musik à Freiburg (Allemagne) de 1978-1983, avant de continuer ses études d’orgue dans la classe de Xavier Darasse au Conservatoire National de Toulouse (premier prix à l’unanmité en 1984), puis à la Southern Methodist University à Dallas (Texas). Il est lauréat des concours internationaux à San Antonio/Texas et à Nuremberg.
Depuis 1989 il fait partie de la faculté de la
-Staatliche Hochschule für Musik à Freiburg, il était professeur d’orgue à la
-Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Mendelssohn Bartholdy à Leipzig (1998 à 2000)
-depuis septembre 2002 il est professeur d’orgue à la Hochschule für Kirchenmusik de la Evangelische Landeskirche Baden à Heidelberg.
Il donne des nombreux concerts dans de nombreux pays du monde, notamment aux Etats-Unis ainsi que, avant l‘attaque russe à l’Ukraine, en Russie, et il a fait des enregistrements et des émissions pour la radio en France, Espagne, au Japon, au Corée, en Ukraine et en Amérique. Il est régulièrement invité à donner des masterclass en Europe et aux Etats-Unis. Il est particulièrement mondialement connu pour ses propres transcriptions pour orgue des oeuvres orchestrales de Mozart, de Mendelssohn (Symphonie “ Réformation „, “ Les Hébrides „), de Max Reger (Prologue Symphonique pour grand orchestre op. 108 de 1908), de J.M. Usandizaga et notamment de César Franck (Symphonie en ré mineur; „Psyché“) ainsi que pour ses interprétations de l’œuvre pour orgue et clavier J.S.Bach à l’orgue ainsi qu‘ au piano et aux instruments historiques.
Heinrich Walther estudió órgano con los profesores Z.Szathmáry, Xavier Darasse, Robert Anderson y Larry Palmer en los Conservatorios Superiores de Friburgo, Toulouse y Dallas, respectivamente.
Ha realizado giras por todo el mundo ofreciendo conciertos de órgano así como de instrumentos de teclado históricos. Su amplia discografía incluye grabaciones de obras de diferentes épocas, estrenosen primicia de obras de compositores contemporanéos, así como transcripciones propias de obras para orquesta de César Franck, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Max Reger y Jose Maria Usandizaga, entre otros.
Actualmente, Heinrich Walther es profesor en el Conservatorio Superior de Música de Friburgo y en el Conservatorio Superior de Música Sacra de Heidelberg. Asimismo, ha sido profesor invitado en diversos seminarios. Desde el año 2006 hasta el 2016 fue organista titular de la iglesia Saint-Matthieu en Colmar, Francia. Ahora es organista en la parroquía de Merdingen, Alemania.
